The Learning Never Ends

We get hoards of pilots who were certified elsewhere visiting Santa Barbara to connect with Eagle for continuing education opportunities. We will fully customize training to meet your expectations. We will help you with ground handling, launching, spot landing, thermal flying, and cross-country insights. We charge $250 a day for pilots who already have a minimum of a P2 rating with USHPA. Its common for pilots to spend a few days with us, and even more as we customize programs to match each individual pilots wants and needs. We have seen what was expected to be two or three days of continuing education turn into a week, and pilots wanting to stay even longer. We developed the “Eagle For Life” program for pilots who were certified elsewhere, and realize the benefit of access Eagles continuing education programs. The program cost is a one time $2500 fee, and gives you unlimited coaching any day we are with students at the flight park or in the mountains. We are flying all of these locations when Mother Nature is offering favorable flying conditions. Certified pilots have found this program to be of great value when they plan on spending some time flying in Santa Barbara every year. The “Eagle For Life” program does not apply to our tours and  clinics. However, the program does give you priority registration on our World Wide Paragliding Tours and Paragliding Clinics. Our tours and clinics sell out every year, and have earned eagle the worldwide reputation as being educational leaders in these arenas.

1 Day tune-up $250 – Building your knowledge and skills

There is a reason certified pilots from all over the world seek out our guidance and insights with a tune-up.  It’s not just a good idea for pilots who have been away from the sport for some time. Our flight park and consistent conditions provide our students an opportunity to have our staff evaluate their performance and knowledge, with a common goal of making you a well rounded paraglider pilot. You can direct us on particular areas you wish to focus, and we will offer input on areas where we can see you benefit. We tell our graduates to get with as many good instructors as possible after receiving their pilot certification.  Our clients are blown away with what we add to their base as a pilot, and usually extend the training. Some opt to sign up for “Eagle For Life” program once they see the value. It’s a great value for anyone planning to spend a week every year or so in Santa Barbara flying with our team.

3 Day Custom Clinic $795 – Perfect for infrequent visitors to Santa Barbara

We customize 3 day clinics for pilots wanting to receive focused training at the flight park and in our local mountains. This program is perfect for pilots visiting Santa Barbara for a few days, and don’t see themselves visiting annually where the “Eagle For Life” program would make more sense. These custom clinics are developed around your experience level and desires.  We strive to develop a custom program to meet each pilots needs depending on their experience and goals as a pilot. Our mountain flying season lasts from September through the end of May. These months are great for flying at both our flight park, and soaring in our local mountains working on improving our thrermaling and cross country skills and knowledge. Our ability to be many places at once with our high caliber staff is unmatched as is our presence in our community support all pilots.

Eagle for life $2500 – Great value for Santa Barbara regulars

Numerous pilots have taken advantage of the “Eagle For Life” program.  Those who know they will be spending at least a week a year in Santa Barbara, and have spent time working with our team see the enormous value in this program. We are available to instruct and guide pilots in this program anytime we are teaching at Elings Flight Park or guiding in our local mountains.  There aren’t many flyable days at either these locations where the Eagle team is missing from the action. Our local presence is obvious when following the dialogue on the Santa Barbara flying communities chat box discussion. The Eagle team is always in action flying with our students and supporting our local flying community like nobody else.

P3 Rating $250 – Free for Eagle alumni

Pilots wanting their P3 certification can schedule a training with Eagle in order to have us to make an evaluation, and help you achieve the P3 rating. We review your log book, the glider models you have flown, and go over the requirements checklist together. We work to build your knowledge and skill set, and discuss your flying goals. This perspective and view allows us to get a vision of where you see yourself as a pilot in the future, and develop specific goals to get you there. Pilots who spend time with our team in any of our continuing education offerings usually end up joining us at our Paragliding Tours and Paragliding Clinics.

P4 Rating $250  – Free for Eagle alumni

We review your log book, the glider models you have flown, and go over the requirements checklist together. We work to build your knowledge and skill set, and discuss your flying goals. This perspective and review allows us to get a vision of where you see yourself as a pilot in the future, and develop specific goals to get you there. Pilots are often interested in attaining a tandem instructor rating after receiving their P4 rating, and meeting the requirements. Eagle is the only school on the south coast with the authority to certify P4 pilots who have met the requirements at Tandem instructors.

Continuing Education “Fine Print”

If we are unable to complete training due to weather, you will have credit for the unused portion. There are no refunds or exchanges. Programs are not transferable to another individual. Students in pilot certification programs may schedule class via email. Reservations are required, and only confirmed when held with a credit card, or full payment has been made. The deposit for the one-day or two-day training is the entirety of the fee. Deposits are refundable only if a qualified replacement student can be found for your reservation, or cancellations are made at least 24 hours before scheduled training. Eagle offers a minimum of 4 flights per training day for one and two-day programs. A credit to come back and make up those missing flights with us another time is given when you had less than 4 flights. Students can pay $100 to extend their half day into a full day when using their credit.  Students have a maximum of two days of training available to evaluate paragliding before their decision about continuing with Novice Pilot Certification must be made. The Novice Certification Program is discounted to $1500 for students who support our staff and school with the purchase of a complete Basic Equipment Package. Students with other plans on where to purchase equipment pay $350 a day for training as they work toward Novice Pilot Certification. Students need a minimum of seven days training to become certified. Daily payments are maxed on day ten. The amount of days required for each individual student to achieve Novice Certification is at the sole discretion of Eagle Paragliding. Students who are already full USHPA members, and started paragliding programs elsewhere or have a paramotoring background pay $250 a day when working with Eagle Paragliding toward completing their Novice Certification Program. Eagle will confirm your previous training dates in order to meet the minimum standard of seven days training to become certified. Daily payments are maxed on day ten. The amount of days required for each individual student to achieve Novice Certification is at the sole discretion of Eagle Paragliding. Regardless of which program you choose, once Eagle certified, you enjoy all the benefits of being an Eagle Paragliding Alumni. These benefits include no cost for P3 and P4 ratings, continued coaching and support, and priority access to our worldwide paragliding tours and paragliding clinics.  There is no expiration date or time period for which students must complete the training program. There are no extra training fees for Eagle Alumni as long as you are here when we are training students who are in the pilot certification program. Alumni are required to email ahead to check the schedule in order to pick dates which meet this criteria. Eagle Paragliding reserves the right to modify, change, or delete any aspect of the training programs or fees at any time. We strongly recommend that students have their own medical insurance. The minimum age for a student is 12 years old. Most anybody can enjoy paragliding.
